Hatu peak is located at an elevation of 3400 m/12000 ft above sea level and is the highest summit in Shimla/Narkanda region of Himachal Pradesh, India. The peak is surrounded by dense woods. The area has forests of fir and spruce, with a smattering of maple, aspen and cedar trees.
The trek involves going through the mixed forests which comprise of a variety of trees varying from blue pine, deodar to fir and spruce. After one reaches half? Way through the trek will they come across Gujjar Kotha which is a temporary shelter for Gujjars who camp with their cows and buffaloes.
Hatu Peak is famous for its apple orchards, mountains covered in snow, green paddy fields, and dense pine forests. The place is beautiful and peaceful, away from the fast moving life of the city with no honking horns and pollution. Hatu peak is rich in cultural heritage and all the festivals including Holi, Diwali, Dussehra, and Lohri are all celebrated with sheer happiness and in a grand manner. The peak witnesses visitors visiting the place in huge numbers. The scenic beauty of the site is unexplainable, and that is what draws the attention of people around towards it.
Hatu temple is an ancient Temple located in dense forest. It‘s enclosed by lush greenery, Pine and spruce trees on the hill top. With serene view of Peak. It is highest peak of the area at 11000 feet .Hatu is ultimate destination for tourist and devotees. Fascinating and astonish landscape makes people to visit again and again .Hatu is a small beautiful wooden temple .People comes with their wishes to temple, it is a belive that asking with true heart will definitely get fulfilled something. According to local belief the famous hatu mata temple is the temple of ‘Mandodari’ wife of ‘Ravna’. People come in great number on the first Sunday of ‘Jeth’ (name of hindi month) to pay ritual here. Goat sacrifice is still in practice near the temple. Where the Pandavas brothers prepared and cooked their food during their agyaat vaas. There is also a two big stones that is looked like the local world “CHULHA” where the locals believe that this is the “CHULHA” of pandaves where they use to cook food at the of agyaat vaas.
Itinerary
DAY 1ST – Oak Retreat & Trek Shiva Fall.
Arrival at Oak Retreat huts (Our huts is situated at village Goro Near Shoghi .) Check in at huts and have some rest. After rest we will go for some interesting trek. Then Enjoy Hot lunch at Huts. Then Evening Enjoy Bonfire with dinner. O/N STAY AT Oak Retreat Huts.
DAY 2ND – Oak Retreat to Hatu Peak Trek Narkanda & Return back to Oak Retreat Huts.
Early morning departure from Oak Retreat Huts after breakfast around at 7:30 am. Narkanda is approx. 80 km from our huts and it takes around 2 hr30min from Shoghi to Narkanda. After 2 and a half hours drive, we will reach narkanda.
Narkanda to hatu peak-
The trek starts at Narkhanda. It’s about 6km from the narkanda and on the way to hatu peak one can enjoy the beautiful pine trees line and the beautiful mountains there. The scenic beauty during the trek is very beautiful. Enjoy the beautiful tree line view on the way to hatu peak.
The beauty of the pine forest will strike you the very moment you get on the trail. The pines stand impressively tall and majestic. You know the forests must be many centuries old by their sheer girth. At times, light rarely touches the surface of the road.
The path veers eastwards around a bend and continues its gradual upward climb through the now sunlight-facing pines. Walk for another hour on this deserted road as it snakes around the mountain side. Three kilometres into the trek, the road pops out to a small clearing on your left, to reveal your first view of the snow-covered mountain ranges of the greater Himalayas.
The top of the hill opens up to a panoramic view of the greater Himalayan range. Spend time taking in the beauty of the place and have lunch on the top of the hatu hill. Grab a quick look of the Hatu Mata temple and get back to the Narkanda . have some snacks their and a drive to Snow trails camp stay at camp and dinner at camp.
DAY 3rd – Check out and departure
After breakfast check out from Oar retreat huts and drive to your respective destination with sweet memories of Himachal.
